One evening we were over at Greg’s sisters (Sam) place and his niece Lottie, then 2 years old, was absolutely loving her painting. Once she had to go to bed, I grabbed one of the paint brushes and used up the leftover paint (the last time I picked up a paintbrush was when I was a child myself). To Greg’s and Sam’s surprise, I painted a humpback whale that was actually recognisable. A few weeks later I finished my Master’s Thesis in Shark Research and as a graduation gift, Sam gave me a watercolour painting set. The next lockdown came and everything I did since then was paint. I absolutely fell in love with it, never ever would I have picked up a paintbrush let alone bought myself a painting set – so really, all my art that you can see now is due to Greg’s niece and sister. Thank you for letting me discover one of my biggest passions in life, I will forever be so grateful for that.
